Each one has delivers its own message in her unique style.If I were to rate, in order, how I liked the stories it would be (1) Baptism Of Fire (2) Mirror Mirror (3) For the Love of a Beautiful Woman and (4) Hand in Glove.
Baptism of Fire I liked because of the story of personal tragedy...and having to face the consequences.
Mirror Mirror I liked due to the story being told about two friends.
For the Love of a Beautiful Woman was about pushing limits; what would you do or not do for love? Do you have limits? Really?
And Hand in Glove... well, it was too violent for me to enjoy.
I rated this book 4 stars only due to the story "Hand in Glove". If you are asking yourself if this book is worth reading then the answer is a simple and clear: Yes.

I found this collection of short stories wonderful.
A definite for anyone that wants a quick read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this compilation of short stories. Wendy's Steele's classic writing style compels, inspires and paints powerful images. There are 4 short stories in total; 3 of which I loved and one was a little 'dark'; the overall rating for this compilation is a 5. Wendy Steele is a very talented writer whose literary skill spans a broad spectrum of genres. I will definitely be reading Wendy Steele's other compilation 'Turn Down the Heat' - these are super stories to read when time is not plentiful. Recommended adult read.
This set of four short stories is the 'dark' side of Wendy Steele's writing. She has also written a collection on the 'light' end of the spectrum - it would be very interesting to see these in one longer collection so that the play of light and dark could be more vivid.
The stories are beautifully written and range from the tenderest of love stories to the worst of human nature - they shock you by the skilfulness of the writing whilst describing things that are not particularly pleasant.
'Mirror mirror' is the stand-out story; it shows the depth of love of two women from childhood right the way through their life. The emotion, whilst restrained, is no less intense and Wendy has written the story beautifully.
'For the love of a beautiful woman' and 'Baptism of Fire' deal with people who are unable to relate to everyday life in a 'normal' way.
'Hand in Glove' is disturbing. No other word for it - I can hope only that this is not written from personal experience...

I received this book from the author for an honest review.
This compilation of short stories was truly amazing and showed the depth of talent the Author has. Within the first few sentences you are brought into a different world that the Author creates. Detailed Characters, intense feeling, unique situations all come to life as if you are walking along with them. I wasn't sure what to expect the first time I read it. Once I understood that each story was separate and not in any way connected, I was able to enjoy them and got more out of them. Wendy Steele has very powerful writing skills and the reader has no where to go once the first page is turned. You are captured until she is done with you!

While I did enjoy reading this anthology for the most part, I personally would have liked another short to accompany these three instead of " Hand in Glove". But then again I'm not a writer in any way, it's just that I'm not really one for reading books of the violent nature, it just takes the enjoyment away for me. While I feel sure there are tons who would and do enjoy "Hand in Glove", I personally didn't. This is just my opinion of course, so as usual I suggest that you do read this anthology for yourself.
It sure is worth the read, I'll really like to see how far I am off on this one. Well done Wendy Steele, your talent to put together amazing stories follows you once more in this collection.
Recommend 18 and up (do to Hand in Glove)

This was a fantastic collection of short stories. They're easy to read and hard to put down. Ms. Steele does an excellent job of portraying people's true identities.
This is a great book especially if you don't have a lot of time on your hands. It's possible to read the entire book in a little over an hour. Really excellent imagery has been used throughout in this well written book. It also delves into the characters mindset well.
